"Terrorist" Omar Hayssam planned his escape from Romania. According to our sources inside the secret services, the escape with the Iman-T ship seems to have been planned with the help of several agents of the Syrian Military Information Directorate.
After a surgery for colon cancer and an adequate treatment, Omar Hayssam managed to escape from the country without making any statements in front of the Judges of the Bucharest Appeal Court about his implication in the kidnapping of the three Romanian journalists in Baghdad. Due to the suspicion regarding the involvement of the Syrian Military Information Directorate, we ask ourselves one question: what was that thing that the Syrian Secret Services wanted to keep away from the Romanian magistrates? A retrospective analysis shows that their actions have been planned at least one month before the escape. Therefore, set free from temporary arrest on the 27th of April 2006, after more than an year spent behind bars, Omar Hayssam managed to not come to the trial more than once. When he came, he couldnât make any statements due to the fact he had been sedated. When the Court lost its patience and gave him a week to solve his problems in order for him to be able to take part in the hearing actively, the Syrian disappeared.
PROFESSIONAL HANDING OF LEMONS.
Because his chemotherapy sessions had been scheduled on the exact days when he was to go to Court, on the 14th of June, Hayssam absented for the third time in a row from the appeal of the magistrates chosen to judge him. However, during the same day, he was able to go to a notary to sign a statement for his kids to be able to get out of the country. This was an unknown fact that day, but even without that information, the judges were already quite upset due to the absences of the "terrorist". The fact that the Syrian showed up at the session on the 21st of June calmed things a little. He was brought with the Ambulance and a doctor escorted him. He couldnât make any statements. He and his lawyers have convinced the Court on the objectivity of his status by submitting an address from the Oncology Institute saying Omar had been operated again. Several nodules had been taken from him for a biopsy. The lawyers said the cancer has extended on the lungs and Hayssam would be able to come to the future sessions because the hospital visits would take place every 30 days. The Court delayed the beginning of the hearing for one more week: the 28th of June.
DID HE REFUSE THE HOSPITAL TO BE ABLE TO LEAVE?
On the trial day (the 28th of June), Hayssam went to the Bucharest Oncology Institute. The doctors wanted to intern him, but he refused. He even signed a statement to be able to leave. Didnât he want to lose the trial? What about the leave? It is certain that Hayssam had promised the doctors he would be back for treatment the second day, on the 29th of June. That day, when he went to Court, he didnât make any statements either, due to all the sedatives he had been administered. In the Courtroom, he couldnât speak due to the excessive secretion of saliva. The 12th of July was the postponement he obtained then. On the 29th of June, he didnât go to the Oncology Institute and he disappeared the day after, on the 30th of June.
ALIBIS
The first alibi offered to cover the runaway was given on the 2nd of July. The defendant was supposed to be in a sanatorium in Valenii de Munte, the Prahova County. The Court told the lawyers to bring the proof for that at the following session. This didnât happen, so the Judges released the warrant for the arrest of Hayssam on the 19th of July. Another questionable alibi is the one supplied by the Syrianâs wife a lot later, when the investigators had established the ways Hayssam had escaped. Adela Omar said that, on that weekend, her husband had been with the family to Snagov. Afterwards, she refused making any more statements invoking the right to not give any statements against her husband.
"TERRORIST" HAYSSAM, A FAKE?
The number 1 terrorist of Romania, Omar Hayssam, could be less terrorist than it was said, Radu Stroe, the chief of the SRI (Romanian Information Service) Control Commission. The liberal refused to say more until the official presentation of the conclusions of the investigation that the SRI Parliamentary Control Commission is to make. "Youâll see", he anticipated. Another "lead" came from Marius Oprea, Tariceanuâs adviser,: "Ask the chief from the Workforce Migration Office, Teodorescu, about his relationships with Hayssam", (A.N.)
FALSE IDENTITY WITH SYRIAN PASSPORT
The investigation shows that Hayssam ran away from the Constanta harbor aboard the North-Korean Iman-T ship. Its ship-owner, Syrian Mustafa Tartousi, is already investigated for having taken part in the escape, but he denies having anything to do with this. With the help of the ship captain, Syrian Yousef Tartousi, Hayssam seems to have been hidden until the ship got to Alexandria, where he got on another ship under another name, with a Syrian Passport. Hayssam traveled all the way to Syria in the cabin of the chief-mechanic. (V. Fotache)
