Victor Atanasie Stanculescu, the general comanding the Romanian army in December 1989 and receiving a 15-year sentence for repressing the anti-communist demonstrators - was finally taken to prison once again.
He was transferred to the Jilava Penitenciary Hospital around midnight.
Stanculescu received a 15-year prison term sentence in October 2008, but in May 2009 he was already out of prison, on a one-year leave to take care of his alleged deteriorating health.
However, a forthnight ago he was filmed by reporters with Hotnews.ro website while playing at a Bucharest casino, after missing his day in court a few days before, again on medical grounds.
When arrested first time, in October 2008, Stanculescu was also playing at a casino.
Prosecutors appealed the court ruling allowing Stanculescu one-year leave from his prison-term, and yesterday they won their case in court: Stanculescu was taken back to prison.(Mediafax)
