Romanian state-owned gas company Romgaz secured the exploitation of five gas fields in Iraq, and eyes other two, the minister for the Economy Adriean Videanu said yesterday.
"Romgaz wants to operate more actively abroad, including in the gas fields on the Black Sea continental shelf," Videanu explained.
Romgaz is one of the two major natural gas providers in Romania, along OMV Petrom S.A. (SNP).
Romgaz is to be listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange this fall, when the Ministry for the Economy plans to sell 15% of the company stock. The ministry holds 85% of Romgaz, while the company holds the rest.
