The National Company for Roads and Highways decided to change the plans for building the Moara Vlasiei - Ploiesti section of the northbound highway, and turn it from a four lane to a six lane highway.
The company will open the bidding process for the design change.This will bring up the costs with 196.85 million lei, VAT not factored in.
The bidding method will be direct negotiation, where 60% of the points will be given by the technical solution put forward, and 40% of the points will be given by the price asked for.
The state budget will finance the project.
The manager in charge with the ongoing project Petre Ene said it is feasible for the company currentlu building the four lane highway to continue its work, and a second company to take over the extension to a siz lane highway.
The section between kilometer 19+500 and kilometer 62 is currently being built by a consortium made of Spedition UMB-Pa&Co Internaţional, Euroconstruct '98, and Com-Axa. It won the 249.74 million Euro contract in the summer of 2007.
The first section of the highway, between kilometer 0 and kilometer 19+500, was also designed intially as a four lane highway and later extended to a six lane highway, following a decision of the former minister for transportationa Ludovic Orban. This later section is being built by a consortium of Italian companies Impressa Pizzarotti and Tirrena Scavi, for 152.8 million Euro.
