The tacit conflict between the SDP leaders erupted in justice. Judicial sources say the visits of Adrian Nastase to the NAD for the Zambaccian case are in exchange for the "clearance" of the SDP Secretary General, Miron Mitrea.
After a long period of silence, as far as the party situation is concerned, on Monday, Adrian Nastase made a surprise statement in which he attacks the SDP (the Social Democratic Party) Secretary General, Miron Mitrea. "He has probably started to talk politics with the NAD (the National Anti-corruption Directorate) prosecutor more than he does it with his party colleagues, but this is a different issue", Nastase stated. He was angry because of several statements made by Mitrea at NAD regarding the 2004 electoral campaign. The former SDP leader stated this after the anti-corruption prosecutors have showed him the investigation file for the Zambaccian case. Nastase didnât want to say more about the Mitrea-NAD collaboration, but judicial sources say the SDP Secretary General has an important contribution to the accusation of the former PM. Moreover, the same sources say that the disjunction of the cause as far as the Mitrea case is concerned for the Zambaccian case could be the first sign of the end of the investigation in his case. Actually, from the beginning of the investigation, Mitrea hasnât been called to the NAD headquarters for the hearings. This is what made the SDP leader say those things at the NAD on Monday. "I donât know what he wanted to say. He is probably upset with this investigation", Mitrea said. He also denied any involvement in the Nastase file: "What do I have to do with his file?"Translated by SORIN BALAN
