The Authority in charge with selling state assets, or AVAS, will start selling in November the mining companies in its portfolio.
The Government should amend in the meantime the law regulating the privatization of mines.
The list of mines AVAS wants to put on the market is: Cupru Min Abrud scopperţ, Moldomin Moldova Noua, Baita Stei, Societatea Nationala a Sarii Bucuresti sThe National Salt Mining Companyţ, Compania Nationala a Cuprului, Aurului si Fierului CNCAF “Minvest” Deva sThe National Copper, Gold and Iron Mining Companyţ, Compania Nationala a Metalelor Pretioase si Neferoase CNMPM “Remin” Baia Mare sThe National Precious Metals and Nonferrous Metals Mining Companyţ, Societatea Nationala a Apelor Minerale Bucuresti sThe National Mineral and Natural Springs Companyţ and Complexul Energetic Craiova sThe Electrical Power Generating Companyţ.
The Romanian state has ownership over other mining companies too, but those are under the authority of the Ministry of the Economy and Finance.
