Romania will benefit from an Israeli expertise in the fight against terrorism. The announcement has been made yesterday during the first visit of the Israeli Defense Minister, Shaul Mofaz (photo), who signed a cooperation Agreement between the resort ministries together with his Romanian counterpart, Teodor Atanasiu.Atanasiu said the Israeli expertise in this field is "probably the best in the world" and appreciated the cooperation as far as the military information is concerned. He added that the information received from the specialized Israeli services have had an important significance for the Romanian Army. INTERESTING. The webpage of the Israeli English-written daily newspaper Jerusalem Post reads that the agreement allows Israel to keep some "units of military air force" in Romania. Mofaz stated that agreement would improve significantly the relations with Romania, which Israel sees as a friend and ally in the anti-terrorist war. This is the statement of the Radio Station Galei Tzahal, quoted by Jerusalem Post. Ynet Israeli webpage show that the document also includes the cooperation for the research in the fields of military technique and of trainings. Atanasiu added that, "after the analyses that have been made at the end of 2005, more than 50% of the contracts that helped for the endowment of the Romanian Army have been made with Israeli defense industry". He proposed to all the Israeli companies interested in investing in Romania and admitted that the discussions were also about the renewal of the Romanian air fleet. He thanked Mofaz for the offer of supplying F-16s and repeated that a decision will be taken at the end of the year. Mofaz announced he had invited Atanasiu to officially visit Israel and stated he had discussed with the Romanian about the situation of the two states as well. He insisted on the regional context - the Palestinian territories and Iran.
