EVENT - December 15th 2004
Yesterday, the HPR president, Dan Voiculescu, suggested that the Government should be one of "wide national pro-European concentration". He also stated that for a first step, very soon, the formation of a parliamentary majority made from SDP, HPR, DUHR and the representatives of the national minorities will be announced and, after that, this proposition of the humanists will be applied.

Dan Voiculescu believes that such a Government "will allow a political stability for the following four years and will eliminate the risk of Romania missing the integration in 2007". "Our opinion is that the formation of the new Government should be made for Romaniaâs and Romaniansâ interest", the HPR (the Humanist Party in Romania) leader also said. He mentioned that SDP (the Social Democrat Party), HPR, DUHR (the Democrat Union of the Hungarians in Romania) and the representatives of the minorities "must become a block, which should invite all the other parties in the Government of wide national concentration". Dan Voiculescu said that the four political formations will decide whether GRP (the Great Romania Party) will be invited to join this block.
PREPARED
Dan Voiculescu said that he is yet to negotiate a portfolio in a future Government, that the party he leads "is in the phase in which it has no obligation towards anyone", but that HPR has people prepared for almost all the areas of activity. "The Ministries where we could bring immediate contribution are the ones of Justice, Economy, Agriculture, but I wouldnât want people to think that HPR had already negotiated for these Ministries", stated Voiculescu. He thinks that Adrian Nastase would be a very good for the future Government, but didnât exclude the other possibilities. "If a Government led by Calin Popescu-Tariceanu has a comfortable majority in the Parliament, which would give us the certitude that after three or nine months we wouldnât have to be obliged to have another Government and that after another six months we would need to have another Prime Minister, as it used to be in a certain period of time, then we donât have anything against a Prime Minister nominated by President Traian Basescu".STRATEGY
In case that the humanistsâ proposition for a Government of wide pro-European national concentration doesnât work, the humanists will think about another strategy, their major interest being "a stable governing, a stable political climate, which wonât jeopardize the European integration", as the HPR leader, Dan Voiculescu, said.Citește pe Antena3.ro
STATEMENTS
On the other hand, Dan Voiculescu wanted to state that HPR "wasnât and wonât be an opportunist party, a party of traitors, which can be looked at as an addendum of another party, no matter the name of that party". He stated that he wanted to say that "all kinds of ideas regarding the opportunism" of his party have appeared lately. Voiculescu added that HPR is a party with its own doctrine, a social-liberal, centre-right one, a party that still takes care of the autochthonous capital and of small and medium enterprises.VIDEANU : "WE DONâT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE COLLABORATION WITH SDP"
The Justice and Truth Alliance excludes the national union government, together with SDP, taking into account even the risk of creating a minority Government. "Our point of view is clear and President Traian Basescu announced it yesterday. We want the formation of the Government around the J.T. Alliance and we excluded any collaboration with SDP. As a conclusion, even if there will be a Government with major support, or one with minor support, the ones that will form the Government will be members of the Alliance", stated yesterday the DP vice president Adriean Videanu (photo), member of the team of negotiators that has to obtain THE Executiveâs parliamentary support. Yesterday, the SDP spokesperson, Titus Corlatean, saluted the HPR decision of forming the majority. "It is the majority close to SDP and DUHR. It is also an important thing for our European partners, who wait for a quick formation of the parliamentary majority, and it assure the political stability", stated Corlatean. In his opinion, forming a large national coalition Government doesnât mean assigning ministers from any other formation than the one that has the parliamentary majority. "All the parties should cooperate for the national interest. So, we are talking about another kind of collaboration. The parliamentary majority is formed according to the agreed parameters, and the Government as a consequence", said Corlatean. (Silviu Sergiu)NEW IDEA
DUHR considers that, now, the parliamentary majority may be formed by SDP, HPR, DUHR and the group of national minorities, stated the DUHR executive vice-president, Laszlo Borbely, yesterday. "We need political stability. I think that, for now, the most important thing is the validation of the mandates for the senators and for the deputies and the election of the Parliament leadership by the beginning of next week", said Borbely. Regarding to the HPR proposition of installing a Government of wide national coalition, Borbely stated: "Itâs a new idea, weâll discuss that. For now, this problem didnât appear officially. Any solution to lead to political stability is stable", stated the DUHR leader.Translation : SORIN BALAN
