The "Ecoul Malinului" (Malinâs Echo) ski contest is taking place tomorrow on the Bucegi plateau, the Malin Valley. The competition is recommended to the ones that want to try skiing at high temperatures.
Two weeks ago, we were still shivering through rain and wondering about this cold spring that we hadnât seen in a long time. These days, things have changed radically. Suffocating heat, irrespirable air in the trams, so the Romanians have started to give the sun a wide berth.
SENSATION
All this setup brings a strange thing as well. It is a big one actually. The winter sport season is not over yet! The final skiing competition of the 2005-2006 season is to take place tomorrow in Busteni, on the Bucegi plateau, in the Malin Valley. Since the snow disappeared from Dorului Valley, in Sinaia, the organizers expect as many skiers as possible to come and want to try to put their skills in a time when it seems itâs summer outside.
ITINERARY
People can get to the competition called "Ecoul Malinului" from Busteni with the Babele Cable car. One trip to the Bucegi plateau costs 19 RON. All the participants will have to carry their ski gear on a tourist trail, which takes them to the Malin Valley after a one-hour walk.
SCHEDULE
The competition organized by Alpin Club Ecoul Bucharest is to start at 11 oâclock and will be supervised by the employees of Busteni Mountain Rescuers. The risk of an avalanche is out of the question during this period of the year, because the snow remained only in the valley, but not on the sides of the mountain. The hot sun is an extra for the fun caused by the snow that is more than ready to welcome the participants. They will all get a very nice tan.
BUSTENI
Two years ago, the representatives of the Busteni town hall set up very modern cable chair equipment on the Kalinderu ski track. Now, they are setting up a new surprise for the tourists that spend their free time on the Prahova Valley.
In order to make the cable chair useful during summer time, Mayor Emanoil Savin found a group of Italian investors that will set up a huge runway on the Kalinderu ski track. The investment will end this summer.
APUSENI
There is one certain Romanian area, which has large quantities of snow throughout the winter in the Apuseni Mountains, in the Alba County.
Recently, a track is being set up in the Horea Township, on the border with the Cluj County. This is to compete with the already existing ones in Arieseni and Albac.
During the summer, the tourists can visit the caves in the area. Last month, a team of researchers from the Krakow University traveled to Apuseni for a few days.
