The Romanian Government will address the issue of the salaries paid to the Central Bank employees in September, after the Parliament resumes its regular session, PM Emil Boc said after the European Commission warned Romania it will open the infringement procedure against it following the paycuts in salaries at the central bank.
"There are no legal steps we could take to reverse said decision, prior to the regular Parliament session in the fall," Boc told the media.
The law passed in late June in Parliament decided for a 25% cut in all civil servants' salaries, those with the Central Bank included. The money thus saved were to finance part of the widening budget deficit.
