The NRCDP leader, Gheorghe Ciuhandu, also starts the run for Presidency, and, in case he wins, he will leave the Timisoara City Hall, him having a similar situation as Traian Basescu.

The NRCDP leader took this decision following the signals come from the subsidiaries from all around the country - says a statement of the party.
The Timisoara subsidiary realized a poll at the end of this week. More than 6,800 persons have been questioned about the way they see this candidacy. 89% from the answerers appreciated the fact that Gheorghe Ciuhandu will run for President in Romania, and only 11% did not agree with us. More than 78% of the questioned ones agreed with the mayor of Timisoara running for President, and this way the Timisoara message and model would be known in all the country.
Though 71% of the interviewed ones voted Gheorghe Ciuhandu as mayor at the summer elections, the percentage of the ones supporting his candidacy are greater.
Gheorghe Ciuhandu is during his third mandate as mayor of Timisoara. He is a construction professor doctor engineer, and until 1996 led the Construction Control and Expertise Institute in Timisoara. He is a NRCDP member since 1990, and he is the president of this party since August this year.
