Director of the "Ovidiu Sincai" Social Democrat Institute, SDP Deputy Adrian Severin, believes
that, after the November elections, the best way would be forming either a SDP-HPR Government, together with DUHR, either a big coalition Government, in which besides those three, NLP should be included as well.

SDP (the Social Democratic Party) Deputy Adrian Severin presented a forecast realised by the research workers of the Social Democratic Institute regarding the after-the-elections evolution. Since he is also a SDP candidate on the Deputiesâ Chamber lists, Severin wanted to say that this Institute is "an organization of the civil society, but not a spokesman for SDP".
FORECAST
According to the Instituteâs forecast, a big coalition between SDP, HPR (the Humanist Party in Romania), NLP (the National Liberal Party) and DUHR (the Democrat Union of the Hungarians in Romania) would cover an important majority, necessary for an Executive which would have as main quest the European integration and would also have the support of the occidental decision factors. "This coalition has already appeared in all the parties in it, and SDPâs negotiation ability, proven at the initiation of the County Councils, is an extra argument in supporting its appearance", says one of the Instituteâs reports.
The option in which a small Government from the SDP+HPR Union side together with DUHR is "also likely to appear, because the DP-NLP Alliance is isolated now on the political stage", says the report. However, Severin said he cannot see a small Government form the DP-NLP together with DUHR working after the elections, adding that he cannot include DP and Traian Basescu in the big coalition Government.
REPORT
According to the Institutes report, through his entire political behaviour, Traian Basescu did anything but making himself sympathized by some important European leaders, so that DPâs presence in the governmental group wouldnât do more than harming Romaniaâs interests. The report also says about the necessity of keeping GRP (the great Romania Party) out of the Government coalition, as well as the fact that SDP is most likely to form the Government, because it has two important aces in hand: the President of Romania will support the party whose leader he used to be and SDP has the highest ability to form alliances, as proven in the local elections. Adrian Severin also showed that the Social Democratic Institute considers that the alternation for Power wouldnât lead to the disappearance of corruption, but to its amplification. He explained that a Minister that would come now in the leading position, no matter his honesty, would need a lot of time to gain control over stateâs mechanism for corruption fighting.
