ELECTIONS - PARTIAL RESULTS/ CEB: Nastase and the National Union SDP+HPR First S

GENERAL ELECTIONS - November 30th 2004
BUCHAREST, 29 November (MEDIAFAX) - Adrian Nastase and the Union SDP (the Social Democrat Party) + HPR (the Humanist Party in Romania) remain the electorate’s favourites after counting over two thirds of the votes, according to the data from CEB (Central Electoral Bureau). After the centralization of the data received until 5 o’clock in the afternoon from 68.6% of the polling stations, Adrian Nastase has 40.24% of the votes, while Traian Basescu has 33.89%. Corneliu Vadim Tudor is next with 12.30%, and after him we find: Marko Bela with 6.18%, Gheorghe Ciuhandu with 1.80%, Gigi Becali - 1.79%, Petre Roman with 1.34%, Gheorghe Dinu - 1.08%, Marian Milut - 0.43%, Ovidiu Tudorici - 0.36%, Aurel Radulescu - 0.33%, Raj Tunaru - 0.25%.

They Follow Up

For the Senate, SDP+HPR has 36.45%, and NLP (the National Liberal Party)-DP (the Democrat Party) Alliance - 31.72%. The two political formations are in front of GRP (the Great Romania Party) with 13.40% and DUHR (the Democrat Union of the Hungarians in Romania) - 7.43%. Bellow the threshold we find NGP (the New Generation Party) - 2.38%, NPCDP (National Peasant Democratic and Christian Party) - 1.85% and the other political formations with less 1%.

For the Deputies’ Chamber, SDP+HPR gathered 35.95% of the votes, the J.T. (Justice and Truth) Alliance - 31.44%. Next is GRP, with 12.74%, and DUHR with 7.37%. Under the threshold we find NGP - 2.26%, NPCDP and all the other political formations that obtained less than 1%.
