Expedition - Four Romanians Are to Leave for the Jungle

A Romanian team is to start today an unprecedented expedition in the Amazonian jungle, which is to last a month, a premiere for Romania. The audacious members are three professional mountaineers, David Neacsu, Serban Georgescu and Adrian Andone, together with Alexandru Molovata - the chief of the Jurnalul National Photography department, the cameraman and the group’s photographer. The group’s guide will be the Peruvian biologist Samuel Solis. He will lead the four Romanians to the most picturesque places in Peru, and into the aboriginal tribal communities as well. For the interaction with these communities the Romanians needed the consent of the Government in Lima, which, for the time being, takes a lot of care of the maintenance of the natives’ way of living. They also needed the consent of the tribe leaders that interact very little with the rest of the world. "This isn’t a risky expedition, and its real purpose isn’t the conquering of the Mismi volcano, for example, but getting acquainted with those exceptional places. More than that we consider ourselves to be the messengers of Romania we would like to be an example to follow for the Romanian youths. They should get more attracted by expeditions in all the places of the world", stated David Neacsu. The expedition’s map contains the Mayas capital Cusco, the National Park Manu - the area of the matsiguenka tribes, where they will witness tribal rituals and hunting, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, the Machu Pichu Peak, as well as a climb on the Mismi Mountain, in the Andes, the place of the Amazon spring, and of an active volcano. The expedition, that costs approximately 13,000 dollars, is financed by the Anonymous Foundation and by several private companies. The adventure of the four is to be filmed and photographed step by step. From the final video and photo material there will result a documentary for the television.
