The SDP (Social Democratic Party) leaders say they do not know anything about any errand for the buying of the two British frigates and ask the authorities to make the contract public in order to clear this out.
The partyâs leader, Mircea Geoana, stated yesterday that there were a lot of speculations and confusions regarding this transaction and this is why they ask the Romanian authorities to clear this situation and to show the opportunity and utility of the contract. "SDP demands for the contract to be made public immediately and thinks CSAT (the Country Supreme Defense Council) is the one that should do it", Geoana said, and he added the "financial clauses" have to be made public, as well as the "technical, off-set" details. Asked whether he knew about the errand being taken by any of his colleagues, he answered: "God, forgive me!" Former Minister of Transport Miron Mitrea said he didnât know about this errand either. "I donât anything about this bribe. The only way to find this out is to make the contract public as soon as possible", Mitrea said. He said that the former SDP Government, as well as the present one "has to answer and prove the utility of this contract". In exchange, Geoana said that, as long as there are not clues indicating a certain person, SDP cannot take any decision and only Justice could take action when these clues appear.
