This is close to the average proportion across 19 nations around Europe and the United States: 16% of respondents.
In Romania, teachers are the professionals scoring the highest in the people’s trust: 85%. The army comes next, with 82% of respondents saying they trust it; 77% of people trust doctors and priests, 68% trust journalists, 54% believe in lawyers, 49% trust policemen and 47% place their trust in top managers.

The lowest trust in politicians was measured in Poland and Germany, with 6% of the people answering the poll. At the other end of the scale stays The Netherlands, with 32% of the people saying they trust their politicians. The Western European "trust in politicians" average stays at 15%, while the Central European average is 11%. Some 12% of Russians trust their politicians, while 17% of the Americans do so.
The polling was conducted in May on samples of about 1,000 people in each country. The researchers concluded that in each country the majority of the population does not trust the political elite. Conversely, teachers and doctors are the professionals both Europeans and Americans trust most.
