13 Apr 2005   •   00:00

Eugen Nicolaescu, the leader of the liberal deputies stated yesterday that, from the NLP’s (the National Liberal Party) point of view, the alleged change of the present PM after the signing of the adherence treaty to the EU "is out of question", because the Executive has accomplished its mission regarding the integration.

  • POLITICS - April 13th 2005
  • SUPPORT. The Liberals say that the Tariceanu Government has fulfilled its duties regarding the European integration.

POSITIVE EVALUATION. The liberal deputy said there is an evaluation which shows that the Government led by Calin Popescu Tariceanu managed "to deal with all the internal and external pressures" until now, meaning to fulfill its assumed assignments regarding the European integration. This way, the many duties of the Government are fulfilled, Nicolaescu, adding that this is the reason of hope for obtaining a favorable vote in the European Parliament today and to sign the treaty of adherence to the EU on the 25th of April. However, in the end, he wanted to say that, from the NLP’s point of view, they shouldn’t comment on the speculations in the press.

REORGANIZATION. On Monday, Emil Boc, the DP (Democratic Party) leader, said there is a "thick governmental apparatus, which has to be reorganized and used at its finest parameters immediately", but that reorganization does not include the Prime Minister. At the end of last week, the mandatory Minister for the Relations with the Parliament, Bogdan Olteanu, has announced that, in May and June, until the end of the Parliamentary session, there will be a reorganization of the Executive by reducing the number ministries and by merging some departments. However, Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu has stated that the parliamentary reorganization is not one of the present priorities. Details on this process will be presented as the project goes by.
