Noise and War

05 Oct 2004   •   00:00

By MARIUS TUCA

There is a lot of digging for the approaches these days. Even if the battle will not be long, it will be intense, it will be a life and death battle. What seemed to be a disputed campaign turned into a real war. Someone, I’m not saying who, really wanted us to have two months of scandals, two months of which is which, two months as long as all the other campaigns together. Swords are being grinded, the cups are being filled with venom, the electoral armatures are being dusted, the air smells like gunpowder and the environment from the beginning of the 90s tends to reappear on the Romanian political stage.

Slowly the blind rage of faction and shrinking, which splits the world in no more than two sides, starts.

There are no friendships, no dialog, phrases like: "Who’s not with us is against us!" reappear.

Anyone can say anything about anyone, anyone can write anything about anyone, the friendships are only good to create new animosities.

If this is the way in which, after 15 years of freedom, politics is practiced then the Romanian politicians did not understand a thing, it means we deserve our fait.

I think the Romanian people got sick and tired of chanting for one or another.

They got tired of crying and drumming in order that they get important again only after some years.

So, it is possible that the show on the political stage won’t have any effect on the Romanian electorate, it is possible that the entire campaigns won’t be heard anywhere but near them.
