de Daniela Ivan    |    11 Mar 2010   •   00:00

The minister for Regional Development and Tourism Elena Udrea said she envisaged changes to the expropriations law, to enable her expropriate the people who, after 1990, bought sections of the Romanian sea-shore and erected various buildings on the beaches.

Udrea wants all mismatched buildings brought down, and beaches returned to their former self, while considering new locations for the businesses - mainly food courts or restaurants - which she says negatively impact the turnover of the restaurants located inside the hotels dotting the Romanian sea-shore.

Udrea said her ministry will embark in negotiations with the local authorities and make an inventory of all such buildings placed on the beaches.
