Romania filed a motion with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe regarding the Ukraine dragging the Bystroe Channel in the Danube Delta.

The motion was analyzed yesterday by the Environment Committee of the CEPA. The motion states that Ukraine had infringed upon the Convention of Bern, on the protection of the environment. The Council of Europe may reprimand Ukraine with limiting its membership rights.
Several environment protection organizations protested Wednesday in Kiev against building the channel. European Commission experts were invited to Kiev to study how the navigation channel was dragged inside the Ukrainian side of the Danube Delta, Russia Today wire service reported.
The Ukrainian ambassador on a special mandate, Natalia Zarudnaya, accused Romania of "systematic and furious pressure" against Kiev and of conducting a false allegations campaign against Ukraine.
