The New Law Opens the Market

The Romanian Parliament has the Law of Gas project, which is to match the Romanian legislation to the Gases European Directive.

One of the new elements of this law is the separation between the competition segment and the segment brought under regulation by the National Authority of Settlement in the Natural Gases domain (NASNG). It is also important the new way to prevent the abuse of dominant position in the internal market. The segment of the market brought under regulation is referring to the actions having a natural monopole character and the ones about the settled supplying of the natural gases. For this segment the prices computation methods are set by NASNG.
The NASNG will impose the public service obligations to the owners of the warehousing, transport, distribution and supplying licenses.
The enforcement of this law is to strengthen the Romanian position in the integration negotiations with the EU concerning one of the most fragile chapters, the one about the market competition.
