The former Minister of Transport, Miron Mitrea, State Secretary Ileana Tureanu and several clerks have been sued due to breaking the laws at the signing of the first public-private partnership contract in Romania, Dambovita Center, approved by a Government Decision. The Control Guard of the Calin Popescu Tariceanu Government approached the prosecutors of the National Anti-corruption Directorate, accusing the people mentioned above of malfeasance. THE PROSECUTORS AND NAD. The project, which targeted the functional reconversion of the building known as the "Radio House", should have served as an example for the future such investments. Instead of that, after the ping-pong of statements between the representatives of the state and the sides of the contract, some obvious irregularities have been discovered. The inspectors of the Control Guard have discovered that, as far as the "Radio House" is concerned, the normative decrees rules havenât been followed at the signing, in 2003, of the public-private partnership contract between the Ministry of Transport and the Turks at the Dambovita Center Trade Ltd. The inspectors have also suspected them of several serious crimes regarding the selection of the investors. In the reminded report, it is shown that all scrap heaps in the respective location have been taken away and sold. This little "trade" only cost the Romanian state a damage of more than 200,000 euros. The NAD prosecutors said this wasnât a case for them to investigate, because the damage did not reach the usual million of euros. According to some sources in the police, the case is still in the phase that precedes the legal investigation.Preliminary hearings could take place in the following days.
