The Second Visit - Basescu Leaves for the USA Today

Today, President Traian Basescu leaves for the USA for a four-day visit during which he will take part in the UN anniversary session. This is the second visit to the USA of the President, after the one in March, earlier this year.

The President will take part in the solemn opening ceremony of the UN Summit, he will say an allocution in front of the plenum in the first day of the session, and he will directly take part in the third summit of the Security Council, which aims the fight against terrorism. In the same time, the President will take part in the traditional reception hosted by George W. Bush. His schedule includes meetings with his counterparts in Iraq, the Moldavian Republic, Finland, Brazil, the South Africa, with the Prime Minister of Spain, with the UN general undersecretary, as well as with the leaders of the main New York-based American Jewish organizations. On September 15 and 16, the official delegation will be in San Francisco and Detroit to meet the Romanian community, as well as several American companies, Ford being one of them. He will also pay a visit to the Stanford University - where many Romanian students study - and to the Hoover Institute, including the library and the Romanian archives. (Oana Stancu)
