Rus resigned his government position Ioan Rus, the minister for administration and domestic affairs, resigned on Saturday his government position stating that he wanted to focus on his electoral campaign for the second round of the local elections. Rus runs for the Cluj mayoral seat. In his resignation note Rus stated that he wanted to dispel the fears some held that he might go back to his Executive position once he would won the race for the City Hall of Cluj city. Rus also stated that he took the decision to resign following the campaign conducted by his opponent, Emil Boc, of the National Liberal Party - Democratic Party Alliance. Rus said Boc "made a profession" out of claiming that he is both a candidate of the Social Democrat Party to the locally elected position in Cluj and a minister in the central government. "I wanted to save Boc the extra-trouble, said Rus. He will now face only his competitor," said Ioan Rus.
