The English Invasion

The resort in Brasov is wanted by the Romanians, and by the foreign tourists especially. They come to our country to learn how to ski and because of the quality of the hotel services.

Poiana Brasov received visits from the Romanian VIPs, as well as from many tourists who came from abroad. The low prices, compared to the ones in Austria or Switzerland, and the professionalism of the personnel from the Ana Ski School are the main reasons for their choice.

BORED

In the New Year’s Eve night, a few moments before the midnight, when people where partying heavily in the luxurious restaurants, a few coaches with English tourists arrived in the parking lots of the hotels. Not interested in the Romanians’ parties, they quietly went into their rooms and they seemed not to care about the fact that there were a few moments left until the welcoming of 2006. "There are two hours left until midnight in England. We will party in accordance to our time zone", says one of the tourists and he doesn’t hurry to get to the New Year’s Eve Party.

CONGESTION

The first day of the year has been a crowded one on the Poiana Brasov track. There were as many people on the Bradul track as in the crowded buses on a workday morning. It wasn’t too much snow, but everyone tried to ski. Suddenly, an army of people with skis and ski boots appeared on the track. They were the English tourists who wanted to learn how to ski as soon as possible. After practicing a few moves with the representatives of the Ana Ski School, led by Emil Farcasanu, the British started to feel the touch of the winter sports.

FUN

"I have been to Romania before and I liked it. Then, I have only been on a trip to the monasteries in Bucovina. I came to Poiana Brasov because the ski school in here costs much less than in other European countries, and the personnel is very friendly", a freckled blond woman says. Her name is Olivia Pennant, she is 32 years old and lives in London. She has only one concern in Romania. "The girls here are very beautiful and I am afraid that my husband might fall in love with one of them", the British woman jokes.
