Semifinals for Romania at the WHC

Romania is sure of its presence in the penultimate round of the World Championship in Russia, after the categorical win against powerful Germany, 37-26 (20-14).

THE DIFFERENCE. After a quite even start of the game, when the two teams stood next to each other until 9-9, the Germans started to miss their chances which led to a gap between the two teams on the score line. The good play of the Romanians coached by Gheorghe Tadici and Dumitru Musi extended at the beginning of the second half when the gap got to 10 goals. Actually the Romanian team stood at least at 8 goals in front of the German team thanks to the excellent display of goalie Luminita Hutupan-Dinu and to the goals scored especially by Luminita Ardean-Elisei (12 goals) and by Steluta Lazar-Luca (6 goals).

BREAK. Today is another break day at the World Championship, and our team’s next game, the last one before the semis, is to happen tomorrow, against Denmark. The game will be live on TVR2, from 8 o’clock in the evening, local hour. Romania needs at least a draw to finish the group on the first place of the 2nd semifinal group and in order to avoid meeting the host country, Russia, in their last game before the final.
