The other party in the Opposition, GRP, has already announced that it wouldnât vote for the document. The officially mentioned reason: When the SDP members heard about the protocol with GRP they werenât so happy, quite the contrary. Corneliu Vadim Tudor had the reasons to get upset. They were treated like a prostitute that one uses when he needs it, but dumps after that.
The refusal regarding the Motion could also be taken as revenge from GRP (the Great Romania Party).
Is there an unofficial reason?
It might be.
We donât know it yet.
However, we will not bother finding it out.
As for the predictable fate of the Motion, it is important that GRP will not vote together with SDP (the Social Democratic Party).
It is also sure that:
- DP (the Democratic Party) cannot afford to vote for SDP, even if they want the disappearance of the Tariceanu Government. Basescuâs toy soldiers know they cannot get anywhere close to the SDP members, as far as the electoral environment is concerned.
- A lot of SDP members will vote against the Motion themselves, due to the uncertainty that comes with the before-term elections.
One knew these things a long time before the filing in of the Motion. However, the SDP leading board decided to go on with it.
Moreover, recently, SDP has spectacularly developed a thing that the leaders of the party call a campaign for the disappearance of the Government.
The present Power has a liberal party in its composition. The President, not the King, at Cotroceni has the power to change the PM. SDP cannot force the hand of anyone.
We are obviously facing a spectacular contrast between the recent SDP actions and the general opinion of the journalists and politicians.
Whatâs really going on?
There are two hypotheses:
The SDP leaders, Mircea Geoana especially, have gone on a foolâs errand. Even though they know nothing will happen, they have filed in the Censorship Motion, they fly the eagle, the organize manifestations in plazas and on the streets, in order to prove that SDP is still alive, that it is threatening the current Power. They could also do it to prove that SDP has went beyond the stage of internal spasms and that it has the armor necessary for a new battle. The SDP leaders, Mircea Geoana especially, have started this campaign knowing something we donât know. They could know that the Tariceanu Government is to be the victim of the Censorship Motion, with the help of a hidden vote from several DP members and from some liberal Parliament members, in a moment that will be seen as coup de theatre. This is how a Government of technocrats led by Theodor Stolojan will appear.
The 28th of June 2006 is the day when we will find out about the result of the SDP campaign and Censorship Motion.
If the Government falls, SDP could say it provoked it. This way, the SDP move will look as a result of great political intelligence.
If the Government survives, SDP will confirm the hypothesis of a drifting political formation, incapable to see the real aspect of the political environment.
Good-bye, SDP! See you on Wednesday night!
