Romania's car exports - most of which are made by Dacia car maker - went up 50.1% in the first eight months of this year, compared with the same period last year. In absolute figures, it reached 150,727 units this year, from 100,438 units in 2008, according to date from the Association of Car Makers and Importers (APIA).
The production of cars went up too by 5.2% in the first eight months, reaching 176,227 units in absolute figures.
This happened in spite of the fact that Dacia car maker was closed in August for its annual maintenance. At Dacia alone the production whent up 6%, reaching 166,706 units, 157,237 units in the fist eight months of 2008.
Commercial vehicles manufactured during this time lag went down 7.6%, reaching 9,521 units, from 10,304 units last year.
Imports took a 57.5% dive, from 171,257 units imported last year, to 72,858 units imported this year.
When compared the performance in 2008 with the one of 2007: went down 6.6%, exports went up 27.4%, and production when up 1.5%.
