Those planning for a white Christmas in the mountain resorts should start making their hotel reservations now. Travel agencies provide vacationers domestic destinations like the Prahova Valley, or trips abroad, to Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, France or Italy.

At Vatra Dornei resort, in northern Bucovina region, one may enjoy the three skiing slopes, while paying 275 lei s78 eurost for a six-night stay at a three-star hotel.
At the Borsa ski resort, in northern Maramures County, on top of ski and sledge slopes, one has also the 50-meter long natural springing slope for those willing to take long jumps. Accommodation costs here between 30 and 78 lei per person per day s9 to 22 eurost, in two star boarding houses.
Austria stands out as the destination of choice for those in love with winter sports. Zell Am See resort, at 757 metes altitude, provides plenty of snow to that end. And a seven-night stay here, in a three-star hotel, costs between 300 and 590 euros per person, pending to season or out of season timing for the vacation.
Those not choosing for a full-package could pay 50 euros per night, right up until the New Yearâs Eve.
Travel agencies also offer vacations at Davos, in Switzerland, where 356 euros per person will pay for a week at a four-star hotel, breakfast and dinner included.
While skiing for a week at a ski-resort in Slovakia will cost some 200 euros per person.
If you want to also spend the New Yearâs Eve where you put on your skiing boots this year, then you may opt for the Austrian resort Kaprun.
A three-star boarding house offers seven-night accommodation, breakfast and New Yearsâ feast for 300 euros.
Or you can choose the Rocca Pietore resort, at the foot of the Marmolada Mountains, in Italy. A week of half-board, the New Year feast and the charter plane included will take one back 650 euros in oneâs finances, but a long way in terms of entertainment opportunities.
Romanian hotels sometimes price their offers higher than those abroad.
Thus, a five-night stay at a three-star hotel in Poiana Brasov resort costs 450 to 600 euros, but some tourist-packages go as high as 1,000 euros per person.
Dragos Raducanu, executive director for the Federation of Owners in Romanian Tourist Services, stated that around 8,000 to 12, 000 Romanians went abroad for last yearâs New Year Eve. Raducanu, however, could not predict the outcome of this winter season, as "the market is pretty slow," he stated.
