Winter Celebrations Started in Vatra Dornei Resort

The Winter Celebrations started yesterday in Vatra Dornei mountain resort, with help from the local City Hall and the Ca$$a Loco music band. Also a ski track tucked between the Rodnei and Calimani mountains is in top condition and awaits the skiers.

Besides the ski track, which is actually located at a 15-minute walking distance from the town center, two adjacent hills may also be used by skiers: Dealul Negru and Dealul Runc. The suspended chairs system whisking tourists on top of the mountain displays a disheartening message at the boarding station in the town.
According to it, a one way trip to the top of the mountain lasts 50 minutes. But this is not true: half of that time is actually necessary to get there, and the view during the ride over fir-trees tops is breathtaking.

Once there, one could opt to either have a glass of hot wine at the "Telescaun Negresti" lodge, or to start descending the mountain on the ski track. The track first coincides with a mountain road, and then passes through the yards of private citizens. But once the track goes in the open, the beginners should stop and go back at the top; from there on there are four kilometers of track rightly rated as appropriated for medium level skiers.

The winter celebrations started yesterday with shows of folk music. Pop singers will perform today, among whom the 3Sud-Est group, Nicola, Sonia and Cristian Pomohaci. Organizers said ski and sledge contests will take place too. The celebrations will last for seven weeks. The ski track on Dealul Negru Hill in Vatra Dornei is one of the best rated in the country
