Russian Christmas In Romanian Resorts

Romanian mountain resorts now vacated by the Romanian tourists are ready to welcome the Russians, Ukrainians and Moldavians, which celebrate Christmas and New Year according to a different calendar.

This new wave of tourists already reached Poiana Brasov mountain resort. On Saturday, they will celebrate Christmas, as many did many times before. Ski tracks were full to capacity, and ski trainers did not lack students.

Tens of coaches arrived yesterday in Poiana Brasov, and since parking lots were already full, many stopped at the entrance of the mountain resort, forcing thus tourists to go on foot for part of the up-hill road to their hotels. All hotels are full to capacity, and the locals prepared to organize parties and serve dishes to their customers’ content.

The rain in the past few days looked like spoiling the chances for skiing, but now weather turned for the better, meaning colder, thus giving a chance to the snow seekers and winter sports. Not even the fog yesterday kept tourists indoors.

"This is not our first time in Poiana Brasov. We had a great time each time, with very good weather and snow on the ski slopes. We plan to have the time of our lives, and come again next year. We are very unfortunate to not have mountains in our country, the Republic of Moldova. But we have better wine and women as beautiful as you have. Poiana Brasov is a mountain resort I plan to visit all my life," said Andrei Zelev, a tourist from Chisinau. As soon as he arrived in his hotel room he unpacked his luggage and rushed to the ski tracks.
